Community Values

Join us if you share these values. They form the basis for our community and interactions.

Compassion רַחֲמִים Rachamim

As individuals and the collective, we hold each other to a high level of community care through all moments of life. We show up intending to expand our caring capacity to others who gather with us and we reach for each other in moments of need.  We hold compassion for those struggling alongside us and outside of our community.

Love & Honor אַהֲבָה & כָּבוֹד Ahavah & Kavod

We show up with radical love and acceptance of each other as many of us come from marginalized identities–we know what it means to feel left out and not honored. In this space, we honor each other's true essence and invite each other to be present with our full selves.

Joy שִׂמְחָה Simcha

We have fun! We encourage joy as a form of healing, self-care, and replenishment. When we create space to develop joy, it ripples through the greater community and allows us to connect to the Divine. We sing, dance, and laugh together.

Disagreement for the sake of heaven  מַחֲלֹקֶת Machloket

Two Jews, three opinions––we know you’ve heard it before. When in the face of conflict we step forward, not back.  Even when confronted with disagreement, we choose to show up for each other during lifecycle moments, prayer, and Jewish rituals––this is how we’ve persisted l’dor v’dor (generation to generation). We celebrate the intimacy that comes from engaging with differing viewpoints.

Justice, Justice we will pursue צֶ֥דֶק צֶ֖דֶק תִּרְדֹּ֑ף Tzedek Tzedek Tirdof

We celebrate pursuing justice locally and globally.  We learn and teach Jewish values in our community that inform how we act in the world. We provide a spiritual home for our community activists who need space to ground and nourish. We pursue justice from a place of compassion and a desire to bring lasting tikkun (repair) to the world. In the spirit of tzedek tzedek tirdof, we stand in solidarity with the liberation of the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination.
